Don’t just tell them; show them and involve them
The general public consists of three different types of learner: visual; kinaesthetic and auditory. Visual learners remember what they see, kinaesthetic learners remember what they do, auditory learners remember what they hear. Visual learners make up the largest of these three groups within the population; auditory learners make up the smallest. When you simply tell people something, you’re only meeting the preferred learners style of the smallest group. So don’t be surprised if most people forget the things you tell them, if telling is all you do.
